Journey in Faith – Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

Journey in Faith is the name given to a series of meetings where newcomers and enquirers can come together and explore the Christian faith, before choosing to make a commitment to the Catholic Church.

Our meetings are held in the Holy Name of Mary Church Hall, on alternate Wednesdays, between 7 and 8pm. We do not follow a pre-planned programme but rather, in a spirit of reflection, we aim to meet the needs of those who are interested to learn more about the Catholic Church.

Each meeting begins with a Scripture reading when we can listen to God speaking to us. Then, we reflect on how the reading and our personal experience might echo each other. It is a time when we can share with one another whatever feels comfortable, to see where God might be calling us in our lives today. Whether we are inquiring about becoming a Catholic or already Catholics, we are journeying together.

Each year those who wish to continue the journey are received into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil.

Everyone in the Parish has an important role to play and it is especially encouraging when those recently received into the Catholic community join in the meetings to welcome and support newcomers.

As a Parish community, we pray for all those who are discerning their call to faith.

‘We tell our stories: That’s all. We sit and listen to each other – and hear the story of each soul. Our sharing becomes one story of a simple lovely search, for life and hope and oneness, in a world that longs for LOVE. And we know that is our sharing, God’s voice – with mighty breath rings out and speaks to us: ‘Love one another‘ and take each other’s hand. For you, though one, are many and in each of you I live.
So, listen to My story
and rise and live with Me’.
