Justice and Peace

The work of the Parish Justice and Peace is rooted in gospel values, working with others who share these values by engaging with them in seeking to offer practical support to people who are living in poverty e.g supporting the local Foodbank and the Genesis Project based at St. Aidan’s Church in Grove Hill. This project provides food, clothing, advice and mental health support to people experiencing poverty, mental health challenges and social exclusion.

The Group responds to requests for support from e.g. CAFOD, when needed, to provide financial support to alleviate devastation in other countries caused by climate change. We organise ongoing collections for a variety of charities via the little pots available at the weekend Masses.

The work of Pax Christi is highlighted at Peace Sunday which takes place each January. The Group also works to challenge unjust structures which perpetuate poverty and environmental degradation. We meet every two months in our Parish Hall offering opportunities for action, information sharing and friendship. We link in with St. Edwards School and the Diocesan Justice and Peace Network.
